Rules is the table management function that helps you optimise how tables are booked to maximise revenue and service quality. By applying these rules, your business avoids underselling larger tables when demand is high, while also filling them during quieter times to make the most of each service. You can restrict large bookings to the times that suit your operation best, while still giving senior staff the flexibility to use their judgement and override restrictions when necessary.

Create your rules
There are two types of rules:
Covers per table restrictions: Tables of specific sizes are booked at maximum capacity to protect profitability during peak periods.
Table size by time restrictions: Control when large party bookings can be accepted, making sure they are scheduled at times the kitchen and front of house teams can manage effectively.
Add your cover per table rules
These rules can be applied to any tables size and allow a minimum number of covers bookable by segment, service or day of the week. Follow the steps below to add your cover per table restrictions:
Click Settings, then Rules.
Click Create New Rule.
Add name and description on the text fields.
Complete the following options:
Type: Select covers per table.
Channel: Select all.
Status: Select enabled.
Tables of: Select the table size.
Only allow: Select the number of covers allowed.
Tick the box below each day of the week this rule is valid.
Click Segment / Service.
Click the red toggle
till it turns green for the services you want to use.Click the Adjust
icon to be more specific with the intervals of time.Enable the tick boxes for the intervals this rule is valid.
Click Save.
Add your table size by time rules
These rules allow you to block larger parties from booking your channels at key times on certain days. Follow the steps below to add your table size by time restriction:
Click Settings, then Rules.
Click Create New Rule.
Add name and description on the text fields.
Complete the following options:
Type: Select maximum booking size.
Channels: Select all.
Status: Select enabled.
Do not allow bookings of: Select booking size.
Tick the box below each day of the week this rule is valid.
Click Segment / Service.
Click the red toggle
till it turns green for the services you want to use.Click the Adjust
icon to be more specific with the intervals of time.Enable the tick boxes for the intervals this rule is valid.
Click Save.
Create an exception to your rules
You can create one off exception to your rules for a specific date or service. Follow the steps below to add your exception:
From the diary main page click on the Tools
icon from the top right.Click Rules Exceptions.
Select the service.
Find your rule and click the green toggle
till it turns red to disable.
