Common mistakes to watch out for

Below is a series of common mistakes you can watch out for as you go through your promotion setup.

Advertisement period or validity period

A common mistake users make when setting up a promotion is confusing the advertisement period with the validity period, assuming they are the same when in fact, they serve different purposes.

The advertisement period refers to the date range during which the promotion is visible and available for booking. In contrast, the validity period defines when the promotion can actually be used.

For example, if you're running a Valentine's Day promotion, you might set the advertisement period from today until February 14th, while the validity period would be limited to February 14th only.

Available or required areas

When creating a promotion, you can set it to be either available or required for specific areas

  • An available promotion is optional for the diner. They can choose to skip it and proceed with a standard reservation without selecting the promotion.

  • A required promotion is mandatory. Diners must select the promotion in order to complete their reservation.

⚠️ Important: If a required promotion applies to a specific time slot, any available promotions will not be shown as options during that time.
