⚠️ Important: You can connect your diary to Stripe once you have reviewed our FAQs.
Stripe account and setup
The information below addresses common questions about Stripe setup, including account requirements and secure payment conditions for ResDiary integrations.
Due to Stripe's single platform policy, users can no longer use existing Stripe accounts that are already being used for another platform. A new Stripe account is required but you can choose to share legal entity in order to access multiple accounts under the same login.
To accept payments via the ResDiary widget, your website must have a valid SSL certificate. This is indicated by “https” in your URL. Without it, you won’t be PCI compliant and won’t be able to securely collect card details.
Stripe payments and fees
The following covers key details about Stripe payment processing, including setup costs, transaction fees, and how to access billing information:
Stripe is free of charge to set up, but there are processing fees attached every time you charge a card via Stripe. The charges are 1.4% plus 20p per transaction from Stripe plus 1% plus VAT from ResDiary. For EU customers it is 1.4% plus €0.25 per transaction plus 1% plus VAT from ResDiary.
Stripe supports a wide range of currencies.
When storing customer details or using checkout to collect payment data, Stripe will in almost all cases make a zero pound request to the customers bank to verify that it is authorised. If this fails a one pound request for authorisation might be attempted.
