This article answers common questions about the reserve with Google integration, which allows customers to book directly from your venue’s Google or Google maps listing. It covers eligibility, setup, availability rules, and how bookings are managed helping you understand how this feature works and how to make the most of it.

Overview and eligibility

The information below outlines how Reserve with Google works, including eligibility criteria, setup requirements, and key integration details:

  • Reserve with Google allows your customers to book directly from Google search or maps, with reservations going straight into your diary.

  • RWG is not supported in several countries including Bermuda, China, Saudi Arabia, and others.

  • Our reserve with Google integration is free of charge.

  • No registration is required, if your ResDiary venue matches a Google maps location, you’re automatically eligible.

  • If your venue isn’t listed on Google maps, you can create a Google business listing.

  • Venues within hotels must create separate Google business accounts for the hotel and restaurant to be eligible.

  • For details on how Google handles customer data, refer to Google’s privacy and terms documentation.

Booking setup and management

The details below explain how to manage your Reserve with Google setup, covering availability rules, booking behaviour, and integration settings:

  • If other booking systems are offering RWG availability for your venue, you can contact them to disable it and avoid their commission charges.

  • A guide is available outlining all requirements for RWG availability to show.

  • Your overview tab content for your venue’s RWG listing can only be edited via your Google my business dashboard.

  • Availability will not show for timeslots requiring a promotion to be selected.

  • You can exclude ResDiary Reserve with Google from your promotions channels to allow standard availability to show without requiring a promotion.

  • Deposits and tokenisation are supported on RWG; you can activate this by contacting [email protected].

  • RWG supports bookings up to 30 days in advance, or less if restricted by your diary settings.

  • Google does not enforce advance booking restrictions but will notify customers when a time is unavailable.

  • Minimum and maximum party size rules from your diary apply, but Google limits searches to a maximum of ten guests.

  • Anyone can view availability, but only users with a verified Google account can complete a booking.

  • Your terms and conditions will be visible during the RWG booking process.

  • Google does not support custom or customer fields from ResDiary.

  • Customers can enter special requests during the RWG booking process.

  • You can enable area selection for bookings, and Google will display area names and include them in confirmation emails.

  • Leave time rules will be shown in confirmation emails, even if not explicitly set in your diary.
