Add custom fields to your booking process

You can create custom fields for your booking widget.

Use custom fields to collect additional information during the booking process. This feature allows you to tailor reservation forms to your venue’s needs, such as capturing dietary requirements, accessibility requests, or other service specific details.

Create your custom field

Follow the steps below to create your custom field:

  1. Click Settings, then Custom Fields.

  2. Complete the following fields:

    • Name: Add the text content of your field.

    • Type: Use URL only if you need this to be a web address.

    • Highlight: The field will be flagged internally on the booking recap.

    • Required: Only use this if the field is mandatory.

  3. Ensure the toggle on the left is green by clicking on it if it’s red.

  4. Click Save.


Enable the custom field on your widgets

Follow the steps below to add your custom field on your widgets:

  1. Click Settings, then Online Settings.

  2. Click Interface Settings.

  3. Locate ResDiary widget and portal settings.

  4. Select your custom field to display from the list.

  5. Click Save.

⚠️ Important: You can only have one active custom field for all your widgets and group of diaries.


Add a custom field on your booking internally

Follow the steps below to add a custom field on your booking internally:

  1. From the diary main page, click Book.

  2. From the customer details window click Details.

  3. Locate and complete your custom field at the bottom.

  4. Complete the booking as normal.

📌 Note: Your online bookings will see the custom field appear on the details page.


Find your custom fields in your diary

Below is a list option you have to locate your custom fields from your bookings:

  • If you’ve enabled highlight from your custom field, you can click on a booking, and it will appear next to the info icon on the summary.

  • You can go to the running order to view your custom field column.

  • You can run a report following the steps below:

    1. Click Reports, then Booking Reports.

    2. Click Booking Details from the left hand side.

    3. Complete the following fields:

      • Venues: Select for what venue this report is.

      • Date Type: Select what date range you want to use.

    4. Click Add Filter.

    5. Filter by custom field.

    6. Select your custom field from the list.

    7. Click Run Report.

⚠️ Important:

  • Custom fields are attached to customer profiles, not bookings.

  • Custom fields do not show on Dish Cult.

  • Customers can freely type when using custom fields online.

  • They apply to all diaries within a group, do not appear on the cross sell widget.
