The unallocate and reseat feature in ResDiary helps you manage bookings more efficiently by giving you more control over table assignments. Whether you need to free up a table for a larger group or re-organise your entire service layout, this tool allows you to unassign and reassign bookings quickly. Unallocated bookings are reservations that appear in your diary without a table assigned. These bookings are moved to the sidebar and your availability is temporarily blocked to prevent overbooking. This can happen due to:
Changes to service times, areas, tables or segments.
Manual use of the unallocate tool.
Booking movements that displace others.
Use the Sidebar icon
to open your arrival list or the unallocated booking report to locate and manage these bookings quickly.
Reallocate bookings automatically
You can automatically reseat your booking to the next best table in the area following your rankings. Follow the steps below to use this feature:
Click on Settings, then Interface Settings.
Enable Try to seat unallocated bookings automatically.
Click Save Settings.
Locate the booking and click on it.
From pop up list on the left click Unallocate.
The booking will be allocated to the next best table.
Reallocate your bookings manually
You can manually reseat a booking to the next best table or to a table of your choice by following the steps below:
Click on Settings, then Interface Settings.
Ensure Try to seat unallocated bookings automatically is disabled.
Enable Expand Standby List Automatically.
Click Save Settings.
Click on your booking.
From the pop up list on the left click Unallocate.
⚠️ Warning: This will create a temporary closeout to prevent any booking from coming in and taking the customer’s space, reseat the table to remove this block.
Locate the booking from the arrival list on the right.
Drag and drop the booking to a table or click the Reseat button.
From the pop-up message click Ok.
Unallocate all your bookings
You can unallocate all your bookings for a day to reorganise them quickly and efficiently. Follow the steps below to unallocate all your bookings for a day:
Click on Settings, then Unallocate bookings.
Select which booking types you want to unallocate.
Click Save.
From the main diary page click the tools icon.
Select which area or service.
Click Unallocate.
⚠️ Warning: This will create a temporary closeout to prevent any booking from coming in and taking the customer’s space, reseat the tables to remove this block.
Locate your bookings from the arrival list on the right.
Drag and drop the bookings to a tables or click the Reseat button.
From the pop-up message click Ok.
📌 Note: Some bookings may not reallocate automatically. You may be required to manually reallocate them.
Troubleshoot your reallocation issues
If you can’t reseat a booking check the following options:
Error messages: follow the on screen prompts for specific error issues.
Area settings: Change your areas in the booking process to all.
Table status: Ensure tables are enabled and joins are configured.
Time slots: Ensure your time slot is still available.
Service: Check if your service is still enabled on your diary.
Rules: Check if you need to disable a rule.
