Setup your order and pay service

You can setup order and pay for food delivery or collection.

ResDiaryโ€™s order and pay feature allows restaurants to operate as takeaway or delivery services, supported by online orders. Originally built for pre-ordering dine in meals, it now works seamlessly for collection and delivery. This guide explains how to set up your menu, take payments and manage your orders.

โš ๏ธ Warning: Ensure you have signed up for the order and pay add-on before moving forward. Once it has been added to your subscription it appears on the diary by clicking on Settings, then Pre-orders

Set your order and pay

Below is a list of steps you'll need to complete in order to enable your delivery and collection service.

Create your order and pay menu

Follow the guidance below to create your menu for delivery and collections:

  1. Create your menu items.

  2. Create your menu.

๐Ÿค“ Tip:

  • Set your menus to bulk order only, so no guest name required.

  • Only use cut off time if you are taking orders in advance.

  • You can share the same menu across multiple diaries.

Setup your Stripe account

In order to take payments for your orders you'll need to connect Stripe, our third party payment provider, to your diary. Ensure you enable the option to email customers for successfully payments from your email receipt settings on Stripe.

Create your promotion

Promotions allow you to sell your menus online for delivery and collection purposes.

โš ๏ธ Warning: While creating your promotion ensure you specify on the name and description if this is for food collection or delivery.

Once you have created your basic promotion, follow the steps below:

  1. Click Promote, then Promotions.

  2. Click the Edit icon next to your promotion.

  3. From your promotion info tab locate is a takeaway promotion.

  4. Select one of the following options:

    • Delivery: You'll need to deliver your order, add the fee.

    • Collection: Your customer will need to collect their order.

  5. Click Menus.

  6. Click Pre-Order Menu.

  7. Select your take away menu.

  8. Click Save.

๐Ÿค“ Tip: You can create multiple promotions for your take away options, just remember to specify if they are for delivery or collection.

Create your take away widget

Ensure you've created a standard booking widget to use for your order and pay. Follow the steps below to setup your booking widget for take away orders:

  1. Click Promote, then Widget Configurator.

  2. Click the Edit icon next to your widget name.

  3. Locate allow takeaways and reservations.

  4. Select restrict to only takeaway from the list.

  5. Click Continue to save.

โš ๏ธ Important : You'll only see availability from promotions marked by collection or delivery on your take away widget. These promotions will not appear on widgets that are not set for take away.


Test your order and pay setup

๐Ÿ“Œ Note: If your diary view is set to arrival status then you'll see the booking in yellow when pending completion and in green once completed. Once the order is completed you can prepare the order for the customer and then deliver it if needed.

Test your online take away flow

Follow the steps below to review your online order and pay:

  1. Go to your widget page.

  2. Complete the booking as normal by selecting your take away promotion.

  3. Once you get to the end of the booking flow, click Place order here.

  4. Add your take away options, then click Complete Order.

  5. You'll be redirected to the payment page, you can now exit the process.

  6. After the payment your customers will land to the custom success page and will receive a take away order confirmation email.

Create your take away order internally

Follow the steps below to create a booking with a take away order attached within ResDiary:

  1. From your diary main page, click Book.

  2. Add your booking details and customer details, ensure you add your email.

  3. Click Add menu from the bottom of your booking form.

  4. Select your menu, then click Order at Table.

  5. Click No to request the payment.

  6. Click Complete.

  7. Click the link on the email to access your take away order form.

  8. Add your take away options, then click Complete Order.

  9. You'll be redirected to the payment page, you can now exit the process.

  10. After the payment your customers will land to the custom success page and will receive a take away order confirmation email.

๐Ÿค“ Tip: You can setup email or SMS notifications for when a new take away order is created.
